Renovation and interior design
Projects
Amsterdam Oud-Zuid, 2025
We renovated and furnished this family home over two floors in Amsterdam Oud-Zuid, bringing back its authentic character. Marble sets the tone throughout: a custom-made red marble basin in the powder room, a Carrara floor with a green marble pattern in the bathroom, and honed Arabescato in the kitchen.

Bussum, 2024
This spacious family home, dating back to 1918, still retained many of its original details, which we were keen to preserve. A generous rear extension now houses the kitchen and dining area, under a four-metre-high pitched roof with exposed beams that echo details found elsewhere in the house. By continuing the original flooring and reintroducing classic panelling, old and new connect seamlessly. Outside, the extension follows the historic architecture with stained glass, traditional roof tiles and brickwork in the original style, and the garden was redesigned around new terraces and borders.

Loenen aan de Vecht, 2024
We renovated and furnished this 300-square-metre family home in Loenen aan de Vecht, with a garden overlooking the river Vecht. The exposed beam ceilings were an unexpected find and the only original element we kept. Everything else was rebuilt in an authentic style: a new layout, a newly placed staircase, panelled doors and a black-and-white marble floor in the hall.

Nieuwersluis, 2023
This new-build villa is the result of several years of collaboration with the architect and the homeowners. The aim was a home in classic English country style: newly built, yet with the character of a house that has always been there. We added panelling in the entrance hall, beamed ceilings, panelled doors and an authentic staircase with a wool runner and oak details. We designed the kitchen, the bathrooms, all the cabinetry and the upholstered bench in the breakfast nook. For the interior, we chose the lighting, curtains and colours with the authentic style in mind.

Amsterdam Rivierenbuurt, 2022
We designed and managed the full renovation and extension of this ground-floor apartment, rebuilt in an authentic 1930s style. A light-filled through room with Hungarian point parquet, an open kitchen with a bold marble worktop, two bedrooms, a bathroom with expressive marble tiles, a walk-in wardrobe, a laundry room and a private garden.

Amsterdam Oud-Zuid, 2022
Throughout the years all original details were lost during previous renovations of the residence. Our vision was to bring back some of the original details with a modern twist. It was an extensive renovation and we could not be happier with the results of this beautiful residence in Amsterdam Oud-Zuid.
Baarn, 2021
A villa across the park in Baarn, stripped of its original details in the 1970s. We brought them back: joinery, Versailles parquet, built-in cabinetry, panelled doors and decorative plaster ceilings, with a warm, soft colour scheme, textured wallpapers and handmade linen curtains.
During the renovation
Utrecht, 2021
A warm, functional living room for a family home in Utrecht, with all furniture, vintage lamps and artwork sourced for the space.
About
MM Interiors is an interior design studio based in Bussum, the Netherlands, founded by Meike Mondeel in 2019. Before establishing the studio, Meike worked as a tax adviser at a law firm, bringing a structured and considered approach to her work in interior design.
The studio specialises in renovations and interiors for family homes, guiding projects from the initial floor plan through to the final furnishings. Each project begins with an understanding of the architecture, natural light and the way a family lives, creating spaces that are both beautiful and practical.
Working closely with clients and spending considerable time on site, we take a hands-on approach throughout the design process.
The studio's aesthetic is refined, timeless and rooted in classical architecture, with a focus on quality and enduring design.
Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of projects do you take on?
We specialise in residential projects, from full renovations and planning to complete interior furnishing. We also take on furnishing projects without renovation, with a focus on creating a cohesive interior throughout the home.
Where do you work?
Our studio is based in Bussum. We work primarily in Het Gooi and Amsterdam, but also take on projects further afield.
How does a project start?
Every project begins with a conversation, preferably at the property itself. This allows us to get a feel for the space, understand your wishes and discuss the possibilities.
Do you work with architects?
Yes, we regularly collaborate with architects, builders, cabinetmakers and upholsterers. Over the years, we have built a trusted network of skilled craftspeople, whom we prefer to work with whenever possible.
How are your fees structured?
We work on an hourly basis rather than a fixed fee. As every project is different and plans may evolve along the way, this allows for flexibility. Before starting, we provide an estimate of the hours required for each phase. All invoices include a detailed overview of the time spent.
